In September 2023, Innovit Electric was awarded a contract to supply fault current limiter to EB2 Repowering Project operated by Mineral Centinela. The device will be applied in bus-tie of 11kV system to support parallel operation of multiple bus sections and solve the problem of excessive short-circuit current in this case, ensuring reliable power supply.
Mineral Centinela is the second-largest mining company in Antofagasta Minerals by production. It is also the country’s seventh largest copper producer and the world’s 15th largest copper producer. Antofagasta Minerals owns 70% of Mineral Centinela. The mine is located in the Antofagasta region in northern Chile and produces copper concentrate (containing gold and silver) and molybdenum concentrate through grinding and flotation processes. Centinela, one of the first mines in the world to be awarded the Copper Mark, is building a second mine. The new concentrator will have a capacity of 95,000 tonnes of ore per day, averaging around 170,000 tonnes per year during its first ten years of operation. Copper equivalent (copper, gold and molybdenum), while the use of SX-EW’s new copper production process will enable the mine to save a quarter of its production costs. The construction of the REPOWERING EB2 SIAM project is the power foundation guarantee for the continuous and stable operation of the second mine, and further enhances the scale of SX-EW process production at the mine, thereby maximizing the potential of Centinela’s huge mineral resource base .
Innovit Electric adheres to the development path of independent research and development and essential innovation. The UFCL-limiter, which has reached the international advanced level, is the only current limiter products in China that has passed the electrical tests of KEMA laboratories. This project is a successful example for Innovit Electric to further expand the international market in South America after opening the Argentine market in 2018 and consolidates the company’s position as the leader of China in the fault current limiter industry.
