In August 2023, Innovit Electric was awarded a contract to supply UFCL-limiter to Kingfisher Oil Field Facilities Project (EPC Package 3) operated by CNOOC Uganda Co., Ltd. The device will be applied in the central processing facility (CPF) part of the project to solve the short-circuit current problem, while transformers and generators operate in parallel, and the inability to select switchgear, ensuring reliable power supply.
Uganda Kingfisher Oilfield surface engineering EPC3 general contracting project, with a designed crude oil processing capacity of 40,000 barrels per day (2 million tons per year), the scope of work includes 4 cluster well sites, inter-station pipelines and 1 CPF (central processing station), CPF (Central Processing Station) includes oil and gas gathering and transportation, crude oil processing, associated gas processing, crude oil storage and export, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) production and loading, produced water and lake water treatment, high-pressure water injection, dual-fuel power stations and other systems. This project is the core part of the surface engineering of Kingfisher Oilfield, aiming to create a model project, a high-quality project and a green environmental protection project that CNOOC, PetroChina and Sinopec cooperate with each other.
Innovit Electric UFCL-limiter (sometimes referred as Is-limiter) is the world’s fastest current-limiting switching device. It can limit the first half rise of the short-circuit current and break the short-circuit current before it reaches the peak, the total fault current level is within the withstand and breaking capability of the switchgear, ensuring system safety.
UFCL-limiter is not only a powerful tool to solve the problem of short-circuit current, but also a systematic solution that can simultaneously improve system reliability, power supply continuity, operation mode flexibility, economy and system efficiency, so as to achieve an organic balance.
