On December 6, 2017, Innovit Electric announced that it has successfully delivered and commissioned two sets of UFCL-limiter for a power plant of China Huadian Group Corporation(CHD). CHD is one of the biggest power generation corporations in China, the power plant is located in Shandong Province, which has two 300MW and two 670MW supercritical coal-fired generators, is an important power source of the grid. As the fastest and biggest breaking capacity switches in the world, UFCL-Limiter, the Fault Current Limiters are manufactured by Innovit Electric. This is the first time for China-made current limiters applied in China’s big power generation projects. With the global energy demand growth and the rapid development of decentralized power production, more and more different types of power are being connected to the public power grid, short-circuit current has increasingly become the challenge the industrial users or the utilities have to face.
These years, industrial customers are requiring more power or additional transformers and generators for their system, is likely to result in short-circuit level exceeds the rated value of the devices of medium-voltage system, which seriously affects system security, and may cause significant losses to the electrical system equipment assets.
As an ideal solution, UFCL-Limiter, the Pyrotechnic Fault Current Limiter made by Innovit Electric can act in 1ms and limits the short-circuit current so that the total fault current level of the system is at the interrupting capacity of the system’s switchgear, the breaking capacity is up to 200kA rms, the peak of the first half of the fault will never be reached. In comparison with complex and conventional solutions, the UFCL-limiter has both technical and economic advantages when used in transformer or generator feeders, in switchgear sectionalizing and connected in parallel with reactors, there is no need for you to upgrade all the switchgear, bus bars, cables, etc.
